Rothberg building (today Britannia) was designed by architect Arie Elhanani in the 40s as craftsmen and mechanics workshops, a one-story U-shaped building , surrounding a wide yard.
Conversion of the structure was born out of the need for the expansion of the Department of Biological Regulation.

Planning called for total renovation of the interior and exterior of the building, creating a new layout for 6 research units, common equipment and refrigeration rooms, offices, meeting rooms and student gathering space. Upgrading all systems and Infrastructures was a real challenge in a low-ceilinged building whose original designation was quite different.
